Watch ‘I Am Mandy Moore’ Video Clips Online — Remakes of ‘Candy’ and Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ Show the Pop Star Has Grown Up
I just watched “I am Mandy Moore,” the documentary of Mandy Moore’s return to the music scene after taking two years to compose her new ‘folksy-pop’ music.
Unfortunately Oxygen doesn’t have the full “I am Mandy Moore” episode up — YouTube has short videos — but Oxygen does have a few snippet videos of what transpired during the months of promoting her new CD Wild Hope (which is selling extremely well) before it emerged on Juneteenth.
I liked Mandy’s honesty with hating her 14- or 15-year-old contrived “Candy” image in this video, saying the pop image was never really a true reflection of herself.
And now, years later, Mandy stands on stage with her BlackBerry in hand, using Google to remember the lyrics to the “Candy” song she says was burned from her brain.
But boy does she prove in her womanhood that she understands the “Candy” song much better now in this bluesy remake video of the song.
I also love Mandy Moore’s remake of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” in this video – it’s nice and slowed down and folksy.
And I’m glad she’s making music that suits her now.
