After watching big banks fail, it’s no wonder people want to find the safest banks for their money. While some people might consider their mattresses the “safest banks” these days — theft and fire and disaster make hiding most of your money at home an unwise option.

I have used a military based credit union , pentagon federal, for over 25 years.I would like to see more information posted on the safety backing for these institutions; is Is the mechanism insuring credit unions as solidly backed as banks with FDIC. etc etc.
Overall, my credit union has been a much better program for me than changing banks everytime I am reassigned; it identifies and accomodates the needs of military service members.
