The Jessie Marie Davis killing was so sad, not only because she was 9 months pregnant with her daughter Chloe at the time of her death, but also because it hit so close to home. Before her boyfriend Bobby Cutts admitted to killing Jessie, I remember looking out at the light above my tool shed last summer, hoping and praying that she would come home to her family.

But the miraculous thing that came out of a grief so deep that many of us will never feel it is Jessie’s mom — Patty Porter — and the faith in Christ that lives in her, enabling her to forgive Bobby Cutts.
