The First Sunday movie (watch the trailer here) looks silly, like one of those movies you’d watch on DVD on a boring weekend.

But maybe I’ll actually watch the First Sunday movie in the theater when it releases January 11, 2008, if I can swing it — ’cause I like giving black movies that money the first weekend if possible.

…and see Malinda Williams looking beautiful, whom I miss since her Soul Food days.

Geez, the roles for black actresses serious need to increase. I was reading the Essence article with Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan and Nia Long talking about this. But I digress…

I was tripping when I saw one promo of First Sunday and they were singing Byron Cage’s “The Presence of the Lord” song.

There’s a fine line between parody and outright making fun of church folk. We’ll see if First Sunday hits the line right.

But I’m glad to see how far Ice Cube has come since rapping with NWA — and that he’s surviving, unlike some of his former band mates.

Here’s the First Sunday movie official website.

Watch it and be blest. Maybe.
