Elevator Ghost Video Freaked People Out… Turns Out to Be a Hoax…
Elevator ghost, elevator ghost, elevator ghost.
I guess the below elevator ghost video freaked people out in Singapore and at a Volkswagen office tower in Shanghai, where the granny elevator ghost supposedly appeared.
Now, thanks to Speak Look Hear, we know the whole elevator ghost vide was just a hoax, a marketing ploy preaching against workaholism.
First, watch the original elevator ghost video, which takes forever for the granny to appear, hightening the suspense:

Just because someone takes credit does not mean it’s true. I am not saying it’s an actual ghost; what I am saying is that history is full of people falsely confessing or taking credit for events or actions that were not theirs. So, unless they can give credible evidence that this is their doing, the case remains open

Man! I’m happily married but I have to say that this spokesman is one attractive guy!!
I’ve got some friends in Washington who would love to meet a good-looking man who is interested in a good work-life balance! ;-)

Am I missing something? He didn’t even mention the ghost video, he just made a joke about hallucinating.

The fishiest thing to me is that there are two elevators and only one of them is on this security camera. Doesn’t that seem like an odd security set-up?
May 21st, 2008 at 6:44 pm
Funny that no one seems to have noticed that the man in the video speaking so highly of his company’s ability to balance life and work isn’t leaving the office until 7:00 pm.

The shot construction made it obvious. The security camera was capturing only one corner of the elevator. The two coworkers AND the ghost all just happened to be confined to that same corner.

Well done! Guerilla marketing, like the Boston Bomb Scare, good one!
May 21st, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Yeah, but still, how was it done?

The person known as “YA” who posted the comment that the case is “still open” is exactly why things like pseudoscience and other frauds continue to get perpetuated. No, the case is NOT still open. There was no credible evidence to believe a video, all too easily altered in a world where everyone can get access to advanced tools to do so, is the real deal, especially a video of a fantastic event as this. Until the video is bolstered by more credible and verifiable evidence, there is simply no need to lend credence or belief to it. The fact a company takes credit for it seals the deal, as far as I am concerned. It’s MUCH easier to believe a company used tried and true guerrilla marketing tactics than it is to believe a security camera happened to catch the sudden appearance of some solid looking grandmother ghost thing.

This should more properly be called: the Elevator
Ghost Video Hoax Hoax. Because they’re trying to
convince us that THEY are originators of the “hoax”
WITH NO EVIDENCE, when we can see for our own eyes
that a ghost very much exists. This might even be an
important scientific discovery of a paranormal
phenomenon! Until we get more credible evidence, its
Ghost: 1, Hoax: 0.

His name is Josh Gold? If that isn’t a tip off that this is a joke I don’t know what is. A nice, self-respecting jewish fellow like him would never get involved with scary ghosts.
May 22nd, 2008 at 12:12 am
Jeez this was so obviously a hoax, how can anyone be “freaked out” by it.
Damn the world is just completely full of idiots.
May 22nd, 2008 at 12:14 am
The same people who thought this was real probably saw the “Kobe jumping over a car” and thought that was real too, or the videos of LeBron making 75 ft shots over and over, or the video of Rhinaldino kicking the ball off the cross bar.
No wonder we have Bush as our president, all these people get to vote.

probably the same people who supported the Iraq war and support the bombing of Iran were the one’s who freaked out about this.
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:12 am
I bet the neo-cons take credit for this
May 22nd, 2008 at 2:11 am
Come on, people. This isn’t a ghost. You can see echo of her as she walks and it’s completely phoney looking. Come onnnn.
May 22nd, 2008 at 5:33 am
Ummmm…have any of you smart cats even paused to figure out why a ‘ghost’ needs to use an elevator in the first place?
I guess we have to call a cab for it to get around town. Puh-leeeeze! Stop being silly!
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:00 pm
But I am an idiot and I WANT to believe in ghosts.
So I think it is real.
Where is Captain Disillusion when you need him?

Wait YA and Sirius, so not only are paranormal phenomena supposed to be believed until disproved, but the admissions of paranormal hoaxes are to be disbelieved until somehow “proven” true? Don’t you suppose your pushing it a little bit?
May 22nd, 2008 at 3:29 pm
@Brian,
You’re being a little naive here. Why would they create
such a hoax if they’re only going to dispel it later?
Isn’t this obviously something more: eg, the tape somehow
was leaked, and then there was a rush to “explain” and
discredit it? Who’s pushing it now?
May 22nd, 2008 at 5:49 pm
that was absolutely a ghost. absolutely. There it was, right there on the video. What do you mean it wasn’t? You saw it right there. It was a ghost! What do you mean it isn’t real? You can’t prove it.
May 23rd, 2008 at 1:01 am
Its crazy to think that that was a hoax but I am sure there are things out there that are hoaxes. I truly believe that there are ghosts and hauntings.
Good luck Ghost Hunting

Who.
F’ing.
Cares.
There are far more important things in the world to be concerned with.

I use photoshop quite frequently to do some amazing things and i’ve also lived in a demonic infested house for 9 months. I’m telling you ghostlovers out there. You can make a video about an elevator ghost quite easily and get morons to go to bat trying to make other people convinced.
secondly.. ghosts aka (demons posing as people) DO NOT APPEAR NORMAL IF THEY ARE TAPED. orbs or globules would be seen not some granny in an elevator. How old is the building? why would a ghost just decide to use this buidings elevator. My grandfather used to do fake ghost pictures with my aunts back in the 1940’s… for the fun of it. whatever I said my two cents and dont bother replying to me.. i’m not coming back to read a lame rebuttle
May 26th, 2008 at 5:49 am
man you guys. you believe in this stuff? That guy just explained it there? besides, how can you prove that it’s real? no one can prove that it’s real, fake, or whatever. but nowadays with technology it’s easy to just rig something out. and besides, it looks a bit fake fake. and what’s the story behind the ghost anyway if it really existed? the company confirmed it, to get out a positive message into society.
