Black (Negro) National Anthem Lyrics Sung in Denver City Meeting…
Watch this video of Rene Marie singing the Black (also known as Negro) National Anthem’s lyrics to the melody of the National Anthem (Star Spangled Banner) in Denver.
It’s kinda funny to see the reaction of the crowd members to Rene Marie’s Black National Anthem rendition. At least one woman clapped.
But we know people don’t play with that National Anthem.
Why the Black National Anthem’s Lyrics for Rene Marie?
I don’t know, but I admire Rene Marie’s chutzpah.
Attending Florida A&M University’s prestigious School of Business and Industry, I sang the Black National Anthem with the crowd every Thursday during our weekly forums, so its lyrics and melody are beyond meaningful to me.
It was funny, one time a white guy named Daniel (one of the few Caucasians who attended the School of Business) introduced our singing of the song, saying “Let’s all rise as we sing our Negro National Anthem.”
That got a chuckle.
Don’t know if Rene Marie’s will, but maybe it’ll be remembered as a unique of a rendition as Jimi Hendrix’s Star Spangled Banner or Marvin Gaye’s jamming rendition at that Lakers game — gotta find that YouTube video.

Rene Marie is disgusting, and an insult to America. Stop Obama and his cronies from spitting on American heros and traditions. If this traitor gets elected, America will be ruined!!!

Unbelievable. Your masking your views in Patriotism. How does this have anything to do with Obama. I am all for the National Anthem and I disagree with what this lady did but Obama being a traitor—get real. It’s funny but in my personal conversations with people like you, I’ve found that Patriotism is not what really motivates these types of rants. Usually somewhere in there I find that it has a little more to do with the color of his skin. Before I’m branded as using the race card, I am one who does not believe that Obama is qualified to be President.

Maybe she should be allowed to sing this POS rendition. It would show the world what the DNC thinks of the nation.

It’s amazing that in order to defend against such blatantly racist remarks such as the ones made by Lee, Doug was sure to announce that he didn’t want to be branded as using the race card and that he does not believe Obama is qualified for office. I don’t understand why he didn’t feel it was appropriate for him to simply state his opinion on the issue at hand - the national anthem and leave it at that?
America as it is and stands today is a nation indivisible because it was built on the back of slave labour and stolen land. Patriotism cannot mask that. So if within this great nation there exists a portion of the population who do not identify with the ‘traditional’ national anthem, it is with justified reason.
Now back to Lee… how does he get off calling Rene Marie disgusting? What does he know about this woman, has he ever met her?
Further, the American heroes and traditions that Lee speaks of, would I venture so far as to say they include rituals such as the cotton plantations and all they stand for and represent?

Rene Marie’s decision was her’s alone and has nothing to do with Obama. I disagree with her decision to sing Lift Every Voice and sing to the tune of the Star Spangled banner.
Here is the way the song is supposed to be sung.

I’ve attended many events were both the Star Spangled banner
and Lift Every Voice are sung. My favorite renditions of the
Star Spangled Banner were sung by Beyonce and Whitney Houston
My Favorite Ray Charles Song is America the beautiful.
Like this serial killer arrested today has nothing to do with McCain even though they have the same skin tone.
