Bill Cosby was on the Oprah show today (watch a short preview video on her site) making a lot of sense about how as black people, we need to value education and pick up where the civil rights leaders left off.

Was Bill Cosby fair to disenfranchised blacks on the Oprah show?

Yes, I know Bill Cosby could come off as a bit harsh on the Oprah show, or in the video of the speech he made that started the whole discussion.

Maybe his message would be better received if he spoke about his own shortcomings in his life. But then again, some people need the kind of hard preaching he’s bringing to get it.

The Lord sure as heck used his views on not spanking to save my little boy from a butt-whipping tonight when he punched his sister in the throat.

But the real question is: Do us blacks sometimes get so mad at Bill Cosby when he’s on shows like Oprah airing our “dirty laundry” because he’s telling the truth?

What’s up with black people who tease each other for “talking white,” as if knowing how to conjugate a verb is a bad thing?
