Ben Affleck Keith Olbermann SNL Video – Watch Ben Affleck as Keith Olbermann on Saturday Night Live…
I guess Ben Affleck did a great job as Keith Olbermann on SNL; I don’t watch a lot of Keith Olbermann, so I couldn’t bounce Ben Affleck’s performance off of anything. I just remember watching Ben Affleck as Olbermann and thinking: This is a really long SNL skit.
Anyway, I know you came here to watch Ben Affleck as Keith Olbermann, so here goes:
Here’s video of Ben Affleck’s Keith Olbermann impersonation on SNL November 1, 2008:

Ben Affleck got the manufactured hyper shock/outrage/anger that goes with an Keith Olbermann performance. But the writers missed some great opportunities, like Olbermann’s constant, almost every show, obsession with “Bill Oh Really” and his more obscure taste in Twilight Zone metaphors.
Affleck was hilarious and I’m sure Olbermann will love the sketch – I’ll be watching Countdown tonight to see his undoubtedly POSITIVE comments about Affleck.
Keith Olbermann is one of the few honest AND decent newsmen on TV. Sure he’s left wing, but we need ONE person to try and balance all the right wing nuts like Billo Reilly, Hannity, the two losers on Fox and Friends, Rupert Murdoch, pretty much everyone else on Fox, a lot of CNN…
When McCain made that racist comment against Arabs – after that nut job woman said Sen. Obama was “an Arab”, and Sen. McCain responded with “no he’s not, he’s a decent man”, ONLY Olbermann, Chris Matthews and the Daily Show had anything to say about it.
Olbermann; Matthews; and Maddow are the reason I watch MSNBC and when Billo Reilly insulted the son of a man who died in the WTC attack, that was when I stopped watching Fox and only see their racist/Zionist/Republican propaganda on YouTube once in a while.
Olbermann will be the next Howard K. Smith, Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite.
Zaki… you do realize that the overwhelming majority of the press is left wing, right? Referring to Olbermann as an ‘honest AND decent newsman’ does nothing but further call your sanity into question.
Oh, and I think a prerequisite for him to become the next Howard K. Smith, Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite, is to actually be able to generate an audience.
Christ, Jim. Spare us all the “left wing media” card. It’s overplayed, and frankly it’s untrue. While it is true that Olbermann is left-wing (and thank God for him!!), there are PLENTY of right-wing “newscasters,” and I use that term loosely, to muddy up the waters. As for Olbermann’s audience, he’s been beating Bill O’Reilly in the key demographic lately.
Anyway, on to Affleck… it was spot on and hilarious!! I’m sure Keith will be amused; he seems to have a good sense of humor. That skit was the only watchable one on SNL.
I heard they don’t care for each other. Keith Olbermann has zero credibility. He is way over the top and I give props for a lefty like Affleck to acknowledge that fact on SNL. He was so Right-on. A little too late to throw the Republicans some late night crumbs on account of the fact they have ripped the right to shreds to help get their guy elected. I think people are starting to realize the bias now and at least I am grateful for that.
Jen… go here http://journalism.org/node/13436 and read. Here’s a quote to sum it up for you:
“That study found that in the media overall—a sample of 43 outlets studied in the six weeks following the conventions through the last debate—Barack Obama’s coverage was somewhat more positive than negative (36% vs. 29%), while John McCain’s, in contrast, was substantially negative (57% vs. 14% positive).”
Also, make sure to take a look at the nice graph they have, to get a feel for which network is more biased.
This study was conducted by a non partisan, non ideological and non political organization.
If you come back with a retort, please have actual facts to back up your assertions.
Jim, that is an interesting study, but it doesn’t necessarily follow that the coverage needs to be equivalent among candidates. Keep in mind that, regardless of what you think of the candidate’s policies, I think it is safe to say Obama ran a much more effective campaign – he appeared Presidential while McCain seemed to chase his tail, changing his approach every week. McCain’s disastrous selection of Palin may have also contributed to his negative ratings as it exposed his impulsive nature and lack of judgment. The graph in the article to which you link shows that Fox News was anti-McCain and they are certainly a pro-Republican network – so that either reflects McCain’s faults or his lack of alignment with Fox’s particular brand of Republicanism. My own sense is that coverage of McCain / Palin was fair (negative) and that Obama was somewhat treated with kid gloves, probably because of race and partly due to the fact that he was a more likable candidate. But to some extent, his more favorable coverage reflected a superior campaign and a better ability to project seriousness and stay on message.
