A Raisin in the Sun TV Movie Not Availabe Online Yet, But DVD is Available for Order…

My mother-in-law emailed me about the “A Raisin in the Sun” TV movie starring P. Diddy and other great actors — with someone saying it didn’t get enough pub.

Here’s the ABC page with “A Raisin in the Sun” promo videos and red carpet interviews.

A Raisin in the Sun DVD for sale…

ABC didn’t put the full “A Raisin in the Sun” movie with Puff Daddy online for us to watch. But the A Raisin in the Sun DVD is now available to order.

I watched the whole thing on TV.

It was slow moving but good, the kind of movie that sticks with you.

The scene where Puff Daddy’s wife went to a Trinidadian woman to get an abortion really stayed with me, and made me second-guess my primary vote for Obama…

A Raising in the Sun movie culled its name from famous poem…but was the poet Christian?

Of course, the Langston Hughes title grabbed from his “A Dream Deferred” poem always makes me think of its biblically inspired lyrics about hope lost making the heart sick.

Hmm…was Mr. Hughes a Christian?

Geez, in reading this piece about his “Goodbye, Christ” poem — maybe he was, maybe not.

I hope he repented before his deathbed and didn’t spend 23 Minutes in Hell.

Anyway, here’s his famous poem:

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?
